Amid several unconfirmed reports that her husband, former Sen. John Edwards, is nearing an announcement about the paternity of his former mistress’s 18-month-old baby, Elizabeth Edwards appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday night and addressed paternity questions surrounding her husband. “My expectation is that at some point, something happens,” Elizabeth said when asked if she knew whether there would be a paternity test related to her husband’s former mistress’ Rielle Hunter‘s young daughter. Showing poise and class she went on to say, “I hope that for the sake of this child that it happens in a quiet way.”
Elizabeth also talked about her family life at home, saying: “Things are going fine. We’re getting the children ready for the new school year. Everything is going smoothly at my house.” As for her ongoing battle with cancer, a courageous Elizabeth told Larry, “The numbers don’t look that optimistic, but I feel good. And I’ve had recent tests that show me to be in pretty good health, all things considered.” And, she added, “I’m still out here fighting.”
Last week, North Carolina TV station WRAL reported that sources claimed that John Edwards was expected to claim paternity of his former mistress’ young daughter. Hunter gave birth to a daughter named Frances in 2008, but Edwards has previously said that his affair with Hunter ended before the baby was conceived.
VH1 Postpones All Future Airings of Megan Wants a Millionaire in Wake of Murder Investigation
Yesterday TMZ broke the news that Ryan Jenkins, a contestant on VH1’s reality dating show “Megan Wants a Millionaire” has gone AWOL and is currently being sought by California police for questioning in the shocking murder of his wife, a former Playboy model named Jasmine Fiore. Jenkins is not only a contestant on the popular new show, but TMZ is also reporting that he may have walked away with $250,000 as the winner of the not-yet-aired “I Love Money 3.”
Now VH1 is scrambling to try to stay ahead of the negative publicity that this case will no doubt cause for the network. VH1 did issue a statement on Jenkins saying: Ryan Jenkins was a contestant on “Megan Wants a Millionaire,” an outside production, produced and owned by 51 Minds, that is licensed to VH1. The show completed production at the end of March. Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family.
Nearly five months ago, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a contestant on “Megan Wants a Millionaire” and “I Love Money 3” impulsively married Playboy model Jasmine Fiore in Las Vegas. The couple moved to LA and Fiore, 28, hoping to work in real estate or as a personal trainer while Jenkins, 32, traveled North America competing for money and another woman’s attentions on reality shows. Now the story has taken a deadly turn since Fiore has been murdered and Jenkins is an international fugitive.
Police say a nude female body was found stuffed in a suitcase in a dumpster behind an apartment complex in Buena Park, CA on Aug. 15. That night, Jenkins called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report Fiore missing, and by Monday the Orange County coroner confirmed the victim as Fiore, apparently strangled. Now, police in the United States and Canada are scrambling to find Jenkins, a Calgary real estate salesman considered a “person of interest” in the murder. “We are aware that he is from Canada and there’s a potential for him to go there,” says Worrall. “We’re concerned he might flee the country.”
Jenkins, who is worth over $2 million, is currently appearing in VH1’s “Megan Wants a Millionaire,” a reality dating show in which wealthy suitors compete for the affections of reality whore Megan Hauserman who has appeared on 3 previous VH1 series: Rock of Love 2, Charm School and I Love Money. On Wednesday, VH1 had shut down most of their Web content connected with both shows, and pulled “Megan Wants a Millionaire” off the air.
