Nicole Richie is best known as known for her boho-chic style and with fans like Madonna wearing her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry collection, her design career is on the rise.
Richie is currently pregnant with her second child (daughter Harlow Winter is 19 months old) and the star has signed on to create and model a line of maternity clothes with her hip touch for “A Pea in the Pod.” Richie talked to PEOPLE magazine about the new line, explaining that the collaboration works because “Pea in the Pod is such a known brand for pregnant women. They carry great lines, and so when they asked me to create a line for them, I was really excited and eager to do it.”
Being pregnant means Nicole understands the needs of her customers. “You really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that’s the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.”
Nicole, who has been sporting jean cutoffs and bikinis during her pregnancy, thinks the pregnant form should be flaunted saying, “I think the pregnant body is beautiful, and I think you should show it off.” The collection contains peasant tops, layering tees, flowing maxidresses and braid details.
“Nicole”, an exclusive collection for A Pea in the Pod is available in stores with prices ranging from $48 for tank tops to $148 for maxidresses.
Madonna is known for her high end fashion and even had Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci design haute couture tour costumes. For her newest single “Celebration,” her Madgesty looked no further than Nicole Richie’s affordable House of Harlow 1960 line for jewels to glam up her cover shot. The Material Girl rocks Nicole’s long gold locket necklace, which costs $65, on her collage-inspired single cover.
