Brad Pitt was unable to attend the London premiere of “Inglourious Basterds” because he needed to stay with his children while Angelina Jolie traveled abroad. But he made up for it last night when he attended opening night of his new Nazi film in Germany last night.
Pitt looked dashing in a smart gray suit, simple ties and movie star shades. However, his presence may have been overshadowed by his leggy co-star’s arrival, Diane Kruger, as she stepped out of her limo and stole the show.
German model turned actress Diane Kruger looked absolutely stunning as she hit the red carpet in glamorous tea rose body hugging Herve Leger by Max Azria dress with square cut shoulders. Adding an element of sophistication to the minidress, Kruger wore her hair neatly slicked and off her face and completed the look with deep scarlet lips. The look was Old Hollywood glamour injected with a fresh, bandage dress in a flattering shape and color. Bravo!
The film’s director Quentin Tarantino was full of praise for his leading lady, and said working with Diane was ‘wonderful’. ‘In the case of Diane it was really wonderful,’ said Quentin. ‘She had an idea of who she was basing the character on, and I had another idea of another actress, so I showed her that kind of work.’ And he also hailed Melanie Laurent, saying: ‘Melanie had this in particular connection to her character, so it was just the normal directing of her during the scenes and she’s a wonderful actress.’
The film, inspired by 1978 Italian war movie “The Inglorious Bastards,” follows a band of Jewish-American soldiers dropped into France to get revenge on the Nazi occupiers. Brad plays Aldo the Apache, the leader of the eight-man team, with Austrian actor Christoph playing the sinister Jew Hunter, for which he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
