JLo and I share a birthday (July 24) so I always make it a point to see how she celebrates her birthday. I guarantee it’s very different than how I celebrated mine.
A stunning Jennifer Lopez, who didn’t look a day over 35, was treated to TWO lavish birthday celebrations this weekend by husband Marc Anthony: the first on Friday at Hotel Griffou, the second on Saturday at the Edison Ballroom in New York.
On Saturday night, a teary-eyed Jennifer arrived to crowds of screaming fans and a guest list including BFF Leah Remini, Liza Minnelli, Ricky Martin, producer LA Reid, manager Benny Medina, Gayle King, and New York Mets player Carlos Beltran. Clearly overcome by the occasion, she welled up and almost spoiled her perfectly applied make-up.
Jennifer arrived with her husband to a surprise party called ‘An Evening With Lola,’ Anthony’s nickname for his wife. When Lopez spotted a marquee with her nickname ‘LOLA’ spelled out in gold lettering, she discovered her partner’s plan and burst into tears. She entered the venue to Sarah Vaughan’s “Whatever Lola Wants” and apparently threw a fit when she noticed some guests were late to the exclusive dinner. A source told the New York Daily News: “Jennifer’s party was very intimate, and there were a noticeable amount of empty seats when the dinner started. Jennifer was really irritated. She was fuming because people were late, and complained about it to Marc,’ said one partygoer.” But Lopez had the time of her life, drinking champagne and partying until 4 am kicking off the big 4-0 by partying like a 20-year-old.
The bash was actually Jennifer Lopez’s second of the weekend, both organized by her husband. The first celebration was another star-studded affair with an all-star guest list including Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige at Hotel Griffou in Greenwich Village, New York. The mother-of-two made quite an entrance in a stunning in a figure-hugging, plunging neck silver gown and lavish diamond earrings. To ensure privacy all guests, including showbiz’s biggest names, had their phones and cameras confiscated for the night. Pop stars Madonna and Rihanna got the dancing started as they took the floor to hip-hop classic “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. Anthony later took to the stage to sing a special song in Spanish, and an emotional Lopez continually burst into tears of happiness.
The last and crew of “The Back-Up Plan” didn’t let the milestone go unnoticed and organized their own party for the star by surprising Jennifer with a giant chocolate cake as she finished a scene. Still dressed in her character’s loose navy top, she appeared emotional, hugging countless cast and crew after being presented with flowers and a card.
Jennifer is currently filming her first film in three years, which stars the Latina as Zoe, a woman who becomes pregnant with twins through in-vitro fertilization, only to meet her dream man on the same day. She has been filming the movie on location in New York since last month and has often been accompanied by her 17-month-old twins Max and Emme.
