Gossip blogger Perez Hilton has filed a police complaint after claiming he was assaulted by the manager of Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am.
Perez, real name Mario Lavandeira, claims he was attacked around 3am outside a club following the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada. While Iranian’s are using Twitter to report an alleged attack within moments, writing: ‘I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.’ Hours later, the Will.i.am set up his own Twitter account to tell his side of the story saying, “Perez Hilton is a liar,’ he said in one Tweet, then filmed a short video clip to further deny the assault claims. “I hit you Perez? Come on dude! I didn’t hit you. Instead of calling police you Twitted that I assaulted you. Sounds like somebody wants mad attention.” He added: ‘They are lies. Shame on you. Shame on your behavior. That’s just messed up.”
Perez then responded with a video of his own sporting what looked like a black eye he claims was a result of the altercation with Will.i.am earlier in the night that led to an assault by the star’s tour manager. “What happened to me in Toronto happened to me as a human being and it should never happen to anyone,” Perez said. “Nothing like this has ever happened before. It is unacceptable. It was not a random fan that hit me. You’re a f****** liar. You’re shameful, you’re disgusting, you’re a coward.” Will.i.am claims the disagreement with Perez began at the Ultra Supper Club where the blogger “disrespected” Will.i.am’s bandmate, Fergie, and said he didn’t like their new album, “The E.N.D.” “It’s one thing to tell your opinion and it’s another thing to just go overboard and just be blatantly rude for no apparent reason,” Will.i.am said. After the initial argument, both men attended the same after-party where a second argument ensued outside. “I was the one that came to him with respect, and he was the one who called me a “faggot” outside the club,” Will.i.am said.
Police have charged the tour manager, Polo Molina, of the Black Eyed Peas with assault. Molina turned himself in and is due in court Aug. 5. Toronto police have confirmed that Perez contacted them with an assault allegation, but refused further comment since the investigation is underway. A spokeswoman for the Black Eyed Peas declined comment.
