Reports have surfaced that Jennifer Hudson is expecting her first child, even though the singer has yet to confirm the news. Over the weekend she celebrated the upcoming birth with a baby shower in her honor.
Jennifer Hudson will finally have something to smile about after a tragedy packed year as she celebrates the upcoming birth of her first child. The Chicago Tribune reported the Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actress celebrated her first pregnancy with a baby shower over the weekend in Chicago. “It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family,” singer/actress Felicia Fields said of Hudson’s party. “They’re really trying to keep it kind of quiet.” When asked if Hudson received blue or pink gifts, Fields said, “They don’t know [the gender]. More yellow.”
Hudson, 27, is engaged to lawyer turned former reality TV star turned pro wrestler David Otunga. Jennifer Hudson is reportedly seven months pregnant and the pair plan to wed this summer. A spokesperson for Jennifer, who is still grieving over the murder of her mother, brother and nephew last October, has not commented on the baby reports.
Susan Boyle suffered an ‘emotional breakdown’ and was rushed to the hospital last night after suffering from exhaustion. Police were summoned to her hotel and the singer was assessed under the Mental Health Act after she had an ’emotional breakdown’ following her shock defeat in the finale of “Britain’s Got Talent”.
Susan Boyle was admitted to London’s Priory Clinic on Sunday, a day after she placed second behind a male dance group on the “Britain’s Got Talent” television show. Judge Piers Morgan said “Nobody has had to put up with the kind of attention Susan has had. Nobody could have predicted this. It has been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history.” Boyle was favored to win the show’s finale, watched by more than 19 million people, after a clip from her first appearance became the fifth most-watched video in YouTube history, having been viewed more than 220 million times.
Morgan, one of Boyle’s biggest supporters, went on to say a victory would have ‘just carried on the mayhem’ for the Scottish singer. He said today: ‘She is getting away from everyone. She’s receiving the best care possible. She needs time to sleep and eat and do the things that she found rather difficult last week.’
Yesterday afternoon, show aides contacted police to say the 48-year-old was ‘acting strangely’ at her London hotel and paramedics were summoned to help the ‘spaced out’ star through the lobby and into an ambulance. ‘Police attended at the request of ambulance personnel and the woman was taken voluntarily to a clinic. No one was arrested and there were no allegations of crime.’ TV company TalkbackThames released a statement saying the Boyle had been advised by a doctor to take time off saying: ‘Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained.”
Allegations of an outburst and meltdown caused by the shock of defeat caused an outburst with Boyle screaming: ‘I hate this show. I hate it.’ She is being accused of swearing and throwing a cup of water over a floor manager who tried to calm her down.
The alleged outburst follows recent backlash against Boyle, who was favored to win the competition, after she was accused of four-letter rants at her hotel as speculation grew that she would not be able to cope with the pressure of fame. By Friday, the pressure appeared to have gotten to the singer, who reportedly went into seclusion after exploding at journalists. During the show’s finale on Saturday night, Boyle looked tense and uncomfortable after giving a strong vocal performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables — the same song she chose for her April debut.
