The curse of reality TV couples continues as Katie Price and Peter Andre have announced they are splitting up.
British couple Katie Price and Peter Andre have ended their marriage after four years, her spokesperson announced today. They released a statement that read: ‘Peter Andre and Katie Price are separating after four and a half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media respect their families’ privacy at this difficult time.’ Their spokesperson has refused to comment on the circumstances surrounding the split. The break-up comes after months of speculation surrounding the state of the couples marriage. Until now, both had denied persistent rumours of marital discord and even discussed plans to try for another baby. They famously documented their relationship on reality series Katie and Peter and have now suffered the same fate as Jessica & Nick, Carmen & Dave, and Travis & Shanna.
The pair was last seen together on Saturday night, emerging from London’s Nobu restaurant hand-in-hand after filming a segment for the British Soap Awards. She told OK! magazine in October: ‘I wouldn’t [leave him]. It would only be if he cheated on me. I think that’s the same for both of us – there’s nothing else that would make us break up – only if one of us was unfaithful.’
Peter, 35, married Katie, 30, in September 2005, at Highclere Castle, Berkshire, England in a lavish, Cinderella-inspired ceremony 19 months after they fell in love on reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! They have 2 children; three-year-old son Junior Savva Andreas, and 21-month-old daughter Princess Tiaamii. Katie also has a son, Harvey, 6, from a previous relationship with former Manchester United footballer Dwight Yorke.
The couple did sign a pre-nuptial agreement prior to marrying which means Katie, aka Jordan’s, fortune is likely to be protected. Katie first made her name as a glamour model appearing topless in various magazine shoots and has gone on to create a large business empire ranging from children’s books to equestrian wear. Singer Peter was a one-hit wonder with his hit Mysterious Girl in 1996.
