Yes, you read that headline correctly and I would never toy with you. Robert Pattinson who star’s in the upcoming Salvador Dalí biopic, Little Ashes, takes it ALL off on the big screen.
“Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson is baring is all in his latest movie, Salvador Dali biopic “Little Ashes.” The film, which he made before Twilight, explores the homosexual relationship between surrealist artist Salvador Dalí and the romantic poet and dramatist Federico García Lorca in Spain in the early-1920s. Pattinson admitted that playing the Spanish painter in the nude was tough saying, “English people obviously do have, like, the most enormous problem with nudity.” The actor also noted that he wasn’t entirely bare, and thought that a full frontal would “ruin the illusion.” Personally, I happen to disagree. Obsessive Twilight fans (like me) will certainly be checking out a nearly-naked Pattinson in “Little Ashes.” I guess that’s what happens when you suddenly become so famous that you’re the envy of people everywhere; skeletons fly out of the closet at breakneck speed.
Pattinson told Moviefone.com, “It’s funny because Spanish people … have no problem with nudity at all, and English people obviously do have, like, the most enormous problem with it. Meanwhile, Paul Morrison, who directed “Little Ashes”, said the nude sex scenes with Pattinson and actor Javier Beltran was tricky. “I think they were difficult, but I think all sex scenes are difficult, and for all actors of all ages,” he told the Los Angeles Times. ” … I think Rob probably found it harder than Javier, to draw the line between performance and, ah, but that was also in the nature of the part, that Dali’s sexuality was so complicated, complex and mysterious, I think even to himself, and his fear of sexuality, and if you’re playing that role, that kind of rubs off on you, so I think sex and pain were so closely entwined with Dali that to play those scenes is also hard, and the triangle sex scene is an unbelievably difficult scene.”
Pattinson, who turns 23 later this month, has become an international pin-up since Twilight was released last year. The six-foot tall actor has girls (and some boys) of all ages going gaga over his portrayal of vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. When he got the role of Edward Cullen his film-making experience was limited with a small part in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a role he reprised in the Order of the Phoenix playing Cedric Diggory. After landing Twilight, the actor was sent to have his hair cut and dyed and given a personal trainer. He was also sent for media training to help him handle the publicity and media attention that would come with the Twilight series.
“Little Ashes” will have a limited U.S. release on May 8, 2009.
